A functional view of dispositional groups. The example of police negotiators.

Tematem pracy jest rola negocjatorów policyjnych w strukturze społecznej, analizowana przez pryzmat grup dyspozycyjnych oraz instytucjonalizacja tej funkcji analizowana z perspektywy socjologii zawodu. Całość opiera się na teorii funkcjonalno – strukturalnej. Pytania postawione w pracy, na które po dogłębnej analizie zostanie udzielona odpowiedź, dotyczą roli negocjatorów w systemie społecznym oraz ich instytucjonalizacji. W pierwszym rozdziale omówione zostały teorie socjologiczne związane z negocjacjami policyjnymi i ich zastosowanie do analizy roli negocjatorów. Zostaje również przedstawiona geneza systemu negocjacji policyjnych na świecie i w Polsce oraz odniesienia badawcze użyte do analizy. Kolejny rozdział poświęcony został metodyce badań, prezentując problem badawczy, pytania badawcze, metody badania oraz założenia o badanej problematyce. Ostatni rozdział został poświęcony analizie wyników badań. Omówione w nim zostały sytuacje kryzysowe, ich rodzaje, czynniki je nasilające, oraz odpowiedzi na postawione pytania badawcze i założenia.

The subject of this paper is the role of police negotiators in the social structure, analysed through the prism of the dispositional groups as well as the institutionalisation of this function analysed from the perspective of sociology of the profession. The paper is using the functional-structural theory. The questions posed in the thesis, which are answered after an in-depth analysis, concern the role of the negotiators in the social system and their institutionalisation. The first chapter discusses sociological theories on crisis negotiations and their (theories’) application to the analysis of the role of the negotiators. The genesis of the police negotiation system in the world and in Poland is also presented as well as the research references used for the analysis. The next chapter is devoted to the research methodology, presenting the research problem, the research questions, the research methods and the assumptions about the studied issues. The last chapter is devoted to the analysis of the research results. It discusses crisis situations, their types, factors exacerbating them, and answers to the research questions and assumptions made.
