Founding texts of the modern revolution : Romania 1989

In the opinion of the autor, the events which took place in Romania in Decmber 1989, were the combined result of a number of factors, both political and psycho-social nature. At the same time, he also perceives a strict inter-dependency between the ever-present and still popular so-called "conspiracy theory" and the equally stubborn propagation of the 'so-called" oficial version of the 1989 revolution by the Romanian government, which mainly accents the spontaneous character of social mobilisation, and martyrological magnitude of the December events. In the contemporary political discourse in post-communist Romania, the term "revolution' is commonly used uncritically towards these events. In the opinion of the author, such a state of things should not be surprising in a country where, in fact, all the political powers are interested in cultivating a heroic version of the "new society" foundation myth.
