The price of artificial intelligence

The article presents expectations and questions regarding the impact of artificial intelligence on school and academic education, including Polish studies courses. The potential of fast-growing operating systems has been juxtaposed with concerns about their possible unethical uses. In the discussion on these threats, the author sees an opportunity to refresh Polish studies courses, to change the thinking about the goals and methods of education, and about evaluating the progress of pupils and students. Chat GPT discredits those working methods that only require reproduction, as it exposes our acceptance of schematic thinking, ridicules school curricula overloaded with useless knowledge. At the same time, it raises questions about the extent to which broadly understood modernity influences not only the necessary changes in the methods and tools of working with young people, but also our sense of community.
