Streszczenie:Celem pracy jest analiza postaci Thérèse Desqueyroux na podstawie powieści François Mauriaca oraz dwóch adaptacji filmowych wspomnianego dzieła. W pierwszym rozdziale przybliżam życie autora oraz podkreślam znaczenie tej publikacji. Analizuję także powieść oraz przedstawiam opinie czytelników i krytyków. W drugim rozdziale zajmuję się zjawiskiem jakim jest adaptacja. Prezentuje definicje, typy oraz funkcje adaptacji filmowej. Trzeci i czwarty rozdział zawiera analizy filmów zrealizowanych przez Georges'a Franju i Claude'a Millera. Analizuję sposób przedstawienia tytułowej postaci. Przedstawiam także opinie krytyków i omawiam stopień wierności obu filmów wobec utworu literackiego. W ostatnim rozdziale pracy zajmuję się porównaniem obu dzieł filmowych.

Summary: The aim of the thesis is to analyse the character of ThérèseDesqueyroux, based on the novel of François Mauriac and two film adaptations of the mentioned work. The first chapter introduces the life of the author and emphasises the importance of the novel. It also analyses the work and demonstrates opinions of readers and critics. The second chapter is devoted to the phenomenon of adaptation. It presents definitions, types and functions of film adaptation. The third and the forth chapter include the analysis of films directed by Georges Franju and Claude Miller and the manner of presenting the main character. Both present the opinions of critics and discuss the level of fidelity between the films and the novel. The last chapter compares the two works of film.

Résumé :Le présent mémoire vise à analyser trois figures de Thérèse Desqueyroux en nous basant sur le roman de François Mauriac et les deux adaptations cinématographiques de l'oeuvre mentionnée. Dans la première partie, nous présentons le portrait du l'écrivain et soulignons l'importance de son roman. Nous présentons aussi l'analyse et la réception du livre. Dans la deuxième partie, nous présentons les informations essentiels concernant le problème de l'adaptation du roman au film. Nous analysons la définition de l'adaptation et énumérons ses types et fonctions. La troisième et la quatrième partie comportent l'analyse des adaptations de Georges Franju et Claude Miller. Nous étudions la manière de présenter le personnage central à l'écran, présentons la critique des films et examinons la fidélité des films au roman de Mauriac. Dans la dernière section de ce mémoire, nous examinons les rapports de ressemblance et de différence entre les deux films.
