Surnames of Nantes residents derived from the names of tree species

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza nazwisk mieszkańców miasta Nantes, które są pochodzenia romańskiego i zostały utworzone od nazw drzew. Przykłady, których liczba wynosi 445, zostały zaczerpnięte z książki telefonicznej dla regionu nantejskiego z 2013 roku. Podczas analizy poszczególnych nazwisk podamy ich etymologię i omówimy w jaki sposób zostały utworzone. Na koniec zastanowimy się jakie cechy są najbardziej charakterystyczne dla tej kategorii nazwisk.

The aim of this thesis is to examine the city of Nantes residents’ surnames which are both of Romance origin and derived from the names of tree species. There are 445 instances of such surnames and they were all found in the phone directory for the region of Nantes from 2013. The analysis comprises the etymology of the surnames and the way they were formed. This leads to identification of features characteristic for this category of surnames.

Dans ce mémoire, nous nous pencherons sur l'étude des noms de famille nantais d'origine romane qui ont été formés à partir d'un nom d'arbre. Les exemples que nous analyserons ici ont tous été tirés de l'annuaire téléphonique de la région nantaise qui date de l'année 2013. Toutefois, nous nous focaliserons exclusivement sur les noms de la ville de Nantes qui évoquent les arbres et dont le nombre s'élève à 445. Pendant cette analyse, nous donnerons l'étymologie de nos exemples et nous nous concentrerons sur les procédés linguistiques employés dans leur création. À la fin, nous réunirons les méthodes qui ont été les plus caractéristiques dans la formation des noms de famille nantais formés à partir des noms d'arbres.
