Korean society in the context of policy of the Empire of Japan towards the Korean Peninsula in years 1930-1945

Celem pracy jest przybliżenie polskiemu Czytelnikowi historycznego zarysu okupacji japońskiej na ziemiach koreańskich, kładąc nacisk na sytuację koreańskiego społeczeństwa szczególnie w trzecim okresie okupacji. W pierwszym rozdziale pracy zaprezentowano historię okupacji japońskiej sprzed 1930 roku. W drugim rozdziale opisano politykę cesarstwa japońskiego wobec Półwyspu Koreańskiego w latach 1930 - 1945, ekspansję Japonii na terenach Azji oraz sytuację „kobiet pocieszycielek”. Następnie w trzecim rozdziale przybliżona została japonizacja Korei, poprzez opis zmian w edukacji, religii oraz mediach. W pracy zostało udowodnione, że sytuacja społeczeństwa koreańskiego uległa znacznemu pogorszeniu w ostatnim okresie okupacji, ze względu na działania wojenne Cesarstwa Japonii.

The aim of this thesis is to familiarize the Polish reader with the historical outline of Japanese occupation in Korea, emphasizing the situation of Korean society, especially in the third period of occupation. The first chapter of the thesis presents the history of Japanese occupation which took place before 1930. The second chapter describes the policy of the Japanese Empire towards the Korean Peninsula in the years 1930 - 1945, the expansion of Japan in Asia and the situation of „comfort women”. The last, third chapter, describes the Japanization of Korea, focusing on education, religion and the media. The work proves that the situation of Korean society has significantly deteriorated in the last period of occupation, due to the war operations of the Empire of Japan.
