On the basis of the discussion of two performances – "Oklahoma!" and "West Side Story" – the specificity of what an American musical is was presented. The second chapter deals with the conflict that was the American Revolutionary War, as well as a discussion of its depiction in the musical. The final chapter focuses on the aspect of American state-building presented in this musical. In addition, the figure of Alexander Hamilton and his activities for the USA was also discussed. This analysis of the Founding Father was intended to confirm the thesis that he was one of the most important builders of American statehood.
