Przedmiotem rozważań pracy jest proces jakim jest przekład, w szczególności przekład literacki, zarówno w kontekście ogólnym, jak i w kontekście translatoryki japońsko- polskiej i polsko – japońskiej. Rozważania te obejmują definicję przekładu, elementy problematyczne, jakie mogą pojawić się w procesie przekładu, jak również wybrane strategie, którymi może się posłużyć tłumacz w sytuacji pojawienia się elementu stanowiącego barierę tłumaczeniową.Kluczowy przedmiot opisu pracy stanowi jednak część poświęcona analizie wybranych fragmentów japońskiego przekładu powieści „Ferdydurke” Witolda Gombrowicza pod kątem występujących asymetrii oraz zachodzącej ekwiwalencji międzyjęzykowej i międzytekstowej względem oryginału.

The subject of this thesis is the process of translation, and in particular the literary translation – the thoughts covered in this thesis are discussed in both the general context and the context of Japanese-Polish and Polish-Japanese translation theory. These considerations include the definition of a translation itself, as well as problematic elements that may appear in the translation process and selected strategies that can be used by a translator shall there be an element constituting a translation barrier.The key subject in the description of this thesis is, however, the part devoted to the analysis of selected fragments of the Japanese translation of "Ferdydurke" by Witold Gombrowicz in terms of occurring asymmetries as well as inter-lingual and inter-textual equivalence taking place in relation to the original.
