The purpose of this study is to identify the main areas and current dynamics of the field of crowdsourcing in science. By using a bibliometric analysis, this study addresses the issue in question and provides a synthesis of scientific crowdsourcing research that has been covered by x cited references in x citing articles. Visualization of science mapping freeware to systematize the findings and interpret the results was used. Citation analysis identifies authors, publications, journals, keywords that have received the most attention in crowdsourcing in science. Factor and social network analyses reveal that field consists of four emergent research themes: platform functionality, theoretical basis, motivational factors/key success, and role/benefit. Based on the findings, this study proposes directions for future research.pl
