Problems in translation of children’s literature based on examples from the book by Miguel Gouveia and Raquel Catalina “A manta do José”

Celem pracy jest pokazanie, czy metody tłumaczeniowe są pomocne w procesie tłumaczenia literatury dziecięcej. W części teoretycznej przybliżony zostaje kontekst literatury dziecięcej w oparciu o literaturę Nelly Novaes Coelho. Drugi rozdział części teoretycznej poświęcony został metodom tłumaczeniowym zaproponowanym przez Amparo Hurtado Albir oraz teorii Skoposu. W części praktycznej omówionych zostało 10 problematycznych przykładów pochodzących z tłumaczeń książki "A manta do José" Miguela Gouvei na język polski. Tłumaczenie Moniki Świdy porównano z tłumaczeniem zaproponowanym przez autorkę pracy dyplomowej. Omówione przykłady udowodniły, że użycie metod tłumaczeniowych może znacząco ułatwić pracę tłumacza.

The aim of the thesis is to show whether translation methods are helpful in the process of translating children's literature. In the theoretical part, the context of children's literature based on the literature of Nelly Novaes Coelho is approximate. The second chapter of the theoretical part was devoted to the translation methods proposed by Amparo Hurtado Albir and the theory of Skopos. The practical part discusses 10 problematic examples from the translations of the book "A manta do José" by Miguel Gouveia into Polish. Monika Świda's translation was compared with the translation proposed by the author of the thesis. The examples discussed have proved that the use of translation methods can significantly facilitate the work of an interpreter.

O objetivo da tese é mostrar, se os métodos de tradução ajudam no processo da tradução da literatura infantil. Na parte teórica há uma contextualização da literatura infantil à base da literatura de Nelly Novaes Coelho. Segundo capítulo da parte teórica é sobre os métodos de tradução propostos por Amparo Hurtado Albir e sobre a teoria do escopo. Na parte prática há 10 exemplos problemáticos das traduções do livro "A manta do José" de Miguel Gouveia para a língua polaca. A tradução de Monika Świda está comparada com a tradução da autora da tese. Os exemplos mostraram que o uso de métodos de tradução pode facilitar significativamente o trabalho de um tradutor.
