Adopting the euro: analysis of threats and benefits for individual sectors of the Polish economy

Celem pracy licencjackiej było omówienie problematyki związanej z wprowadzeniem euro jako waluty narodowej w Polsce. Szczególnej analizie poddany został sektor finansowy z dodatkową analizą sektora bankowego oraz sektor przedsiębiorstw w Polsce. Podstawowe pytanie, jakie przyświeca podjętym tu rozważaniom, odnosi się do próby stwierdzenia, czy wprowadzenie wspólnej waluty może pomóc wybranym sektorom w dalszym rozwoju. Całość rozważań skupiała się wokół analizy atrakcyjności sektora bankowego w Polsce z punktu widzenia inwestora zagranicznego, który traktowany jest tutaj jako szansa na rozwój bankowości w Polsce. Analiza rynku finansowego dotyczyła głównie integracji sektora finansowego ze strefą euro, potencjalnych korzyści z tego wynikających oraz wzrostu napływu bezpośrednich inwestycji zagranicznych do Polski. Analiza sytuacji polskich przedsiębiorstw dotyczyła wyjaśnienia szkodliwego dla wprowadzenia euro mitu, dotyczącego wzrostu cen i osłabienia popytu wewnętrznego z jednoczesnym uwzględnieniem korzyści wynikających z redukcji kosztów transakcyjnych i dynamizacji polskiego handlu na arenie międzynarodowej.

The aim of the bachelor's thesis was to discuss issues related to the introduction of the euro as the national currency in Poland. The financial sector with additional analysis of the banking sector and the enterprise sector in Poland was subject to special analysis. The basic question that guided the considerations undertaken here refers to the attempt to determine whether the introduction of the common currency can help selected sectors in their further development. The whole reflection focused on the analysis of the attractiveness of the banking sector in Poland from the point of view of a foreign investor, which is treated here as an opportunity to develop banking in Poland. The analysis of the financial market was mainly concerned with the integration of the financial sector with the euro zone, potential benefits resulting from it and the increase in the inflow of foreign direct investments to Poland. The analysis of the situation of Polish enterprises concerned the explanation of the myth harmful to the introduction of the euro, concerning the increase in prices and weakening of internal demand, while taking into account the benefits resulting from the reduction of transaction costs and the dynamics of Polish trade on the international arena.
