Doctor's ethical dilemmas related with the necessity of making the decision weather sustain patient's live or let him die

In the first chapter of the following thesis the author explains the definitions, presents the pain phenomenon of a patient’s terminal illness and his quality of life. The term of pain according to certain philosophers and in the Ancient Times was also depicted. The second chapter describes the Medical Code of Ethic and the Nursery and Obstetrics Code of Ethic. Author concentrated on a doctor’s conscience in a moment of choosing the treatment method according to patient’s Living Will, family’s will and ethical precepts.Chapter three includes the information about brain death and the medical possibilities of terminal illness treatment methods among patients staying on Intensive-care Ward.

W pierwszym rozdziale jest zawarte wyjaśnienie definicji, zjawisko bólu człowieka chorego terminalnie oraz jego jakość życia. Przedstawiono także cierpienie w ujęciu niektórych filozofów oraz w czasach starożytnych.Drugi rozdział omawia Kodeksy Etyki Lekarskiej oraz Kodeksy Etyczne Pielęgniarki i Położnej. Skupia się również na sumieniu lekarza podejmującego decyzje o wyborze postępowania klinicznego biorąc pod uwagę testament życia, wolę rodziny oraz zasady etyczne.Rozdział trzeci przedstawia informacje dotyczące śmierci mózgu, a także możliwości medyczne związane z postępowaniem wobec człowieka chorego terminalnie znajdującego się na oddziale intensywnej terapii medycznej.
