Praca porusza temat kontrowersji związanej z nazwą najwyższego szczytu Alaski. Analizie została poddana historia regionu oraz ludności autochtonicznej, pochodzenie nazw McKinley oraz Denali oraz kwestia sporu dotyczącego nazwy góry. Ukazane zostały również skutki sporu oraz zmiany nazwy na arenie międzynarodowej. Jako wniosek płynący z analizy całości zagadnienia wykazana została konieczność ochrony nazw tradycyjnych i respektowania kultury ludności rdzennej.

This thesis tackles controversy over the name of Alaska’s highest peak. Among subjects analyzed are history of the region and local native tribes, origins of the names of the mountain and the controversy over the term. The effects of the conflict and of the name change are indicated.. The aim of the thesis is to point out to the importance of native culture protection and the necessity to consult important decisions with all ethnic groups living on a given area.
