German compound nouns and their Polish equivalents in certain German laws

Tytuł przedłożonej pracy licencjackiej brzmi: Niemieckie złożenia rzeczownikowe w wybranych tekstach ustaw i ich polskie odpowiedniki. Praca składa się z części teoretycznej i empirycznej. Pierwsza z nich poświęcona została ogólnemu przedstawieniu złożeń niemieckich, reprezentujących poszczególne części mowy. Złożenia rzeczownikowe stanowią podstawę analizy przeprowadzonej w pracy, z tego też względu zostały one szczegółowo opisane, nie tylko w odniesieniu do części mowy, jakie reprezentują, ale także w kontekście relacji semantycznych między poszczególnymi elementami danego złożenia. W części teoretycznej zostały przedstawione także obszary zastosowania złożeń, jak np. teksty specjalistyczne, gdzie szczególnie istotną rolę odgrywa ekonomia języka. Część empiryczna została poświęcona analizie złożeń rzeczownikowych w wybranych tekstach ustaw niemieckich i ich polskim odpowiednikom tłumaczeniowym. Korpus mojej analizy stanowiły fragmenty trzech ustaw i ich polskie tłumaczenia: Betriebsverfassung (Ustawa o ustroju zakładowym), Mindestarbeitsbedingungengesetz (Ustawa o ustalaniu minimalnych warunków pracy) oraz Kinderarbeitsschutzverordnung (Rozporządzenie o ochronie pracy dzieci).

The presented thesis analyzes the Polish equivalents of German compound nouns. This work consists of theoretical and empirical parts. The first part is devoted to the general description of German compounds according to the word class. For the main focus of this thesis, I analyzed compound nouns in detail. I characterized them not only in terms of parts of speech, but also in terms of semantic relations. I mentioned other aspects such as the use of German compounds in this section as well. Compounds are used particularly in specialist texts, where the economy of language is relevant. Therefore, the empirical part of my thesis concentrates on the compound nouns in legal texts and presents possible strategies for translating them into Polish. In this section I carried out an empirical analysis. The corpus for the analysis consisted of three German pieces of legislation, along with their Polish translations: the Betriebsverfassung (Labor Constitution), the Mindestarbeitsbedingungengesetz (Minimum Working Conditions Law) and the Kinderarbeitsschutzverordnung (Child Labor Laws).

Der Titel der vorliegenden Bachelorarbeit lautet: Deutsche Substantivkomposita und ihre Entsprechungen in polnischen Übersetzungen ausgewählter deutscher Gesetze. Die Arbeit besteht aus dem theoretischen und empirischen Teil. Der erste von ihnen wurde der Beschreibung von Komposita im Hinblick auf ihre Wortklassenzugehörigkeit gewidmet. Da Substantivkomposita den Kern meiner Analyse darstellen, wurden sie nicht nur in Bezug auf Wortklassen, sondern auch auf semantische Relationen beschrieben. Im theoretischen Teil wurde auch der Gebrauch von Komposita geschildert, wie z.B. ihre Verwendung in Fachtexten, wo die Sprachökonomie eine bedeutsame Rolle spielt. Der empirische Teil wurde der Analyse von polnischen Entsprechungen deutscher Substantivkomposita in ausgewählten Gesetzestexten gewidmet. Das Korpus für meine Arbeit bildeten Auszüge aus drei deutschen Gesetzen und ihren polnischen Übersetzungen: der Betriebsverfassung (Ustawa o ustroju zakładowym), dem Mindestarbeitsbedingungengesetz (Ustawa o ustalaniu minimalnych warunków pracy) und der Kinderarbeitsschutzverordnung (Rozporządzenie o ochronie pracy dzieci).
