Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza elementów kulturowych występujących w angielskiej, polskiej i czeskiej wersji językowej pełnometrażowych filmów z serii Shrek, tj. Shrek (2001), Shrek 2 (2004), Shrek Trzeci (2007) i Shrek Forever (2010) oraz porównanie ich ze sobą z punktu widzenia przekładu. Autorka pracy stara się znaleźć odpowiedzi na następujące pytania: Jakie tendencje przekładowe związane z treścią kulturową dominują w omawianych językach dubbingu? Czy polskie i czeskie tłumaczenie różnią się między sobą, a jeśli tak, to pod jakimi względami? Jak oba przekłady wypadają na tle oryginału pod względem zawartych w nich elementów kulturowych? Część teoretyczna obejmuje zagadnienia związane z teorią przekładu, tłumaczeniem audiowizualnym i transferem treści kulturowej w przekładzie. Najważniejsze pojęcia w kontekście niniejszej pracy to: neutralizacja, egzotyzacja, udomowienie, ekwiwalencja i adaptacja. Część praktyczna zawiera kompletną analizę elementów kulturowych pojawiających się w omawianych wersjach językowych z podziałem na poszczególne filmy.
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze cultural elements included in the English, Polish and Czech language version of the four main movies from the Shrek franchise (Shrek (2001), Shrek 2 (2004), Shrek the Third (2007) and Shrek Forever After (2010)) and to compare them with one another in terms of translation. The author of the thesis tries to find an-swers to the following questions: What translation strategies and techniques linked to cultural transfer o the translators use the most? Are Polish and Czech translations different and if yes, how so? How do both translations look compared to the original when it comes to cultural content? The theoretical part reviews the most important issues regarding theory of translation, audiovisual translation and translation of cultural content. The most crucial terms in the context of this thesis are: neutralization, foreignization, domestication, equivalence and adaptation. The practical part contains a com-plete analysis of said cultural elements divided by individual movies
