Sylfida to jeden z najsłynniejszych baletów w historii tańca, którego premiera wyznacza początek romantyzmu w sztuce baletowej. Jego główne komponenty: libretto, konstrukcja formalna, dekoracje, kostiumy i choreografia stały się wzorem dla kolejnych twórców, wpływając również na obecny kształt baletów klasycznych. Największą sensacją i najmocniejszą stroną Sylfidy była odtwórczyni tytułowej roli - Maria Taglioni. Dzięki swojemu scenicznemu wizerunkowi nie tylko wypromowała ona nowy, liryczny, eteryczny styl wykonawstwa, lecz stała się również pierwszą międzynarodową gwiazdą baletu, wpływając na sztukę, modę i obyczajowość epoki. Praca Kulturowe transformacje baletu Sylfida, oprócz omówienia pierwszych inscenizacji w choreografii Filippa Taglioniego i Augusta Bournonville'a, stawia sobie za zadanie odkrycie inspiracji tym baletem w kulturze XIX wieku oraz w późniejszej sztuce baletowej.

La Sylphide is one of the most famous ballets in the history of dance. Its premiere marks the beginning of the romantic era in ballet. The main components of La Sylphide such as: libretto, formal design, decorations, costumes and choreography became a model for subsequent ballet artists. They also made an impact on the current shape of classical ballet. The biggest sensation and the strongest point of the La Sylphide was Maria Taglioni, the performer of the title role in this piece. With her stage image she promoted not only new, lyrical, ethereal styles of performance, but also became the first international ballet star, influencing art, fashion and other customs of her era. This paper focuses on Sylphide's first stagings and the choreography by Filippo Taglioni and August Bournonville. Moreover, this article sets out the task of finding inspiration for La Sylphide in the culture of the nineteenth century and in the art of ballet in later centuries.
