The image of KL Auschwitz in the testimonies of deportees from France

Niniejsza praca stanowi przegląd świadectw francuskich deportowanych, którzy przeżyli obóz koncentracyjny i zagłady Auschwitz. Pierwszy rozdział poświęcony jest specyfice literatury Holokaustu. Drugi rozdział stanowi syntezę świadectw mającą na celu odtworzenie rzeczywistości obozowej. Kolejny rozdział dotyczy nieścisłości językowych oraz błędów rzeczowych, które pojawiają się w tekstach. Praca opatrzona została dwoma aneksami – słowniczkiem obozowego żargonu oraz aneksem fotografii.

The present thesis consists of a revue of testimonies of French deportees who have survived the concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz. The first chapter is dedicated to the specificity of Holocaust literature. The second chapter contains a synthesis of testimonies which seeks to recreate the reality of the camp. The third chapter concerns the linguistic inaccuracies and factual errors that appear in the texts. The thesis is accompanied by two annexes – a dictionary of the jargon used by camp prisoners and a photography annexe.

Le présent mémoire passe en revue les témoignages des déportés français qui ont survécu le camp de concentration et d’extermination Auschwitz. Le premier chapitre est consacré à la spécificité de la littérature de la Shoah. Le deuxième constitue une synthèse des témoignages dont le but est de recréer la réalité concentrationnaire. Ensuite, le troisième chapitre évoque les inexactitudes linguistiques et les erreurs factuelles qui apparaissent dans les textes. Enfin, le mémoire est accompagné de deux annexes – un dictionnaire de l’argot concentrationnaire et un annexe des photographies.
