W mojej pracy zajmuję się obecnością zjawy w powieści Emila Zoli – ''Teresa Raquin''. Opisując przyczyny i konsekwencje ukazania się ducha Kamila Raquin pragnę udowodnić, że jego obecność w powieści jest niezbędna do tego aby charaktery postaci ewoluowały. Obecność zjawy w dziele, które przejawia cechy powieści eksperymentalnej wydaje się być zaskakująca; ma ona jednak swoje przyczyny, są to: sumienie zabójców, wręcz oniryczny charakter ich związku oraz przesądy. Te trzy elementy tworzą byt, który jest przyczyną obłąkania bohaterów, a także karą za dokonany czyn. Zjawa zmienia charakter bohaterów – Laurent staje się bardziej wrażliwy, a Teresa niezależna. Pojawienie się ducha Kamila Raquin prowadzi do obłąkania oraz wzajemnej nienawiści między zabójcami, pomaga im też jednak pogodzić się ze sobą.

I focus on a manifestation of the apparition in a novel written by Émile Zola - ''Thérèse Raquin''. I describe the causes and the consequences of this phenomenon in order to prove that the presence of the apparition is necessary so that the murdurers can change their character. The presence of the apparition in a book that has some characteristics of a novel experimental seems to be surprising. Therefore, this phenomenon has many causes: a concience of the murderers, their relation that seems to be illusory and finally the superstitions. Those three elements create a being that causes the murderers' madness and that punishes them for what they have done. The apparition changes their character – Laurent becomes more sensitive and Thérèse more independent. The manifestation of the apparition leads to madness and reciprocal hate but it helps them to reconcile.

Je me concentre sur l'apparition du spectre de Camille Raquin dans l'un des premiers romans d'Émile Zola - ''Thérèse Raquin''. Je décris les causes et les conséquences de ce phénomène afin de prouver que la présence du spectre est nécessaire pour que les personnages changent leur caractère. L'apparition du spectre semble inattendue dans un roman qui a déjà des traits caractéristiques du roman expérimental. Pourtant, la présence du spectre a plusieurs causes: la conscience des meurtriers, le caractère illusoire et irréel de leur relation et finalement les superstitions. Ces trois éléments construisent un être qui cause la folie des meurtriers et est leur punition pour avoir tué Camille. La présence du spectre change également le caractère des meurtriers - Laurent devient plus sensible et Thérèse semble être plus indépendante. L'apparition du spectre cause donc la folie et la haine réciproque des meurtriers mais également les aide à se réconcilier.
