Adaptations of European novels in the Egyptian cinematography of the twentieth century based on Anna Karenina Lew Tolstoy

We wstępie pracy opisana została historia kina egipskiego oraz rola jaką odegrało ono w świecie kina w zestawieniu z innymi wielkimi przemysłami filmowymi. Wymieniono także najważniejszych przedstawicieli środowiska filmowego Egiptu oraz dzieła powstałe przede wszystkim w latach 40,50 i 60 XX wieku. Następnie opisana została treść rosyjskiego dzieła Lwa Tołstoja "Anna Karenina" i ukazano warunki w jakich powstawała. W dalszej części dokonane zostało szczegółowe porównanie "Anny Kareniny" oraz jej egipskiej adaptacji, która nosi tytuł "The river of love". Opisana została dokładna treść filmu, różnice i podobieństwa względem oryginału. W podsumowaniu wspomniane zostały dwa inne przykłady adaptacji europejskich powieści w egipskim przekładzie, są to "Nędznicy" oraz "Dwie sieroty". Oba dzieła doczekały się adaptacji w egipskim kinie o tym samym tytule, przetłumaczonym na język arabski.Końcową refleksje stanowi odbiór adaptacji Anny Kareniny wśród egipskiego społeczeństwa.

At the beginning of the thesis the history of Egyptian cinema was described and what role it played in the world of cinema in comparison with other large film industries. We learn the names of the most important representatives of the Egypt's film environment and works created mostly in the forties, fifties and sixties of the twentieth century. Secondly the plot of the Russian novel "Anna Karenina" written by Lew Tolstoy was elaborated as well as the conditions in which the novel was created. After that the author of the thesis made a specific comparison between "Anna Karenina" and her Egyptian adaptation which is entitled "The river of love". The exact content of the film, differences and similarities with the original version were described. In the summary there are mentioned two other examples of adaptations of the European novels in Egyptian cinema, their names are "Les Misérables" and "Two orphans" which had been adapted to the Egyptian cinema with the same names, translated into Arabic.The final reflection is the impact of the adaptation of "Anna Karenina" on Egyptian society.
