Turkey's attitude towards the civil war in Syria

Tytuł pracy to "Turcja wobec wojny domowej w Syrii". Praca składa się z czterech rozdziałów, wstępu i zakończenia. Opisuje relacje turecko - syryjskie w XX i XXI wieku i wskazuje najważniejsze momenty w historii, które zbliżyły lub poróżniły dwa państwa. W kolejnym rozdziale autorka zaprezentowała przebieg wojny domowej w Syrii ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem roli i zaangażowania Turcji. Rozdział trzeci natomiast mówi o narodzie kurdyjskim w Syrii i Turcji. Przedstawiono podejście obu państw do Kurdów. W rozdziale znajduje się także fragment dotyczący Rożawy i interwencji tureckiej w rejonach przygranicznych. Ostatni rozdział przedstawia motywy Turcji dotyczące zaangażowania się w konflikt syryjski. Jako główny autorka podaje chęć zmniejszenia liczby napływających uchodźców oraz zabezpieczenie się przed Kurdami. Powodem jest również bezpośredni wpływ wojny domowej w Syrii na sytuację wewnętrzną, gospodarczą i społeczną w Turcji. W zakończeniu autorka pisze także o tym, iż odbudowanie relacji turecko - syryjskich będzie bardzo trudne. Podkreślona jest również rola innych organizacji oraz państw, których obecność znacząco wpłynęła na rozwój sytuacji.

The title of this thesis is "Turkey's attitude towards the civil war in Syria". The thesis consists of four chapters, beginning and the end. It describes Turkish - Syrian relations in XX and XXI centuries and indicates the most important moments which had brought Turkey and Syria together or had divided them. In the next chapter the author presented the path of Civil War in Syria taking into consideration role and engagement of Turkey. Third chapter describes the situation of Kurds who lived and still live both in Turkey and Syria. The approach of two countries towards Kurds was highlighted in the thesis. In this chapter there is also a part dedicated to Rojava and Turkish military intervention close to border areas. The last chapter focues on why had Turkey decided to take part in this confict. As a main reason author presents the will to decrease the amount of Syrian refugees who are coming to Turkey and protection against Kurds. Another reason is also direct impact of Civil War in Syria on internal, economical and social situation in Turkey. In the end author writes about rebuilding Turkish-Syrian relations and claims that it will be really difficult. The role of other organizations and countries in this conflict is also highlighted.
