Tumaczenie humoru w oparciu o polski dubbing filmu Nowe Szaty Króla

Praca została poświęcona analizie tłumaczenia humoru w Polskiej wersji filmu Nowe Szaty Króla (2000 rok) produkcji Dinseya. Głównym celem pracy jest zidentyfikowanie strategii obranych podczas tłumaczenia oraz ocena ich skuteczności w utrzymaniu humoru. Praca została podzielona na dwie sekcje: teoretyczną i analityczną. Sekcja teoretyczna została napisana w oparciu o ogólną teorię humoru werbalnego Attardo i Raskina, jak i również o prace Chiaro i Zabalbeascoy na temat przekładu audiowizualnego i transferu humoru. Sekcja analityczna skupia się na wybranych przykładach reprezentujących różne rodzaje humoru. Każdy z tych przykładów został przeanalizowany poprzez porównanie obu wersji językowych, w celu oszacowania wpływu strategii tłumaczenia odbiór filmu w języku polskim. Ostateczne rezultaty ujawniły, że substytucja była wybierana najczęściej, podczas gdy strategia opuszczenia zdarzała się rzadko. Na podstawie tych rezultatów można stwierdzić, że Polski dubbing skutecznie oddał humor oryginału. W niektórych przypadkach tłumacz był w stanie ten humor wzmocnić, głównie poprzez adaptację. Ostateczna konkluzja potwierdza, że skuteczne tłumaczenie humoru niekoniecznie polega na dosłownym przekładzie tekstu wyjściowego, lecz na jego przemyślanym przetworzeniu.

This thesis examines the translation of humour in the Polish dubbed version of Disney’s 2000 film The Emperor’s New Groove (Nowe Szaty Króla). The main aim of the study was to identify what strategies the translator employed and to determine how effective they were for the preservation of the humorous effect of the original film. The thesis was divided into a theoretical and analytical section, with the former including Attardo and Raskin’s General Theory of Verbal Humour and works of Chiaro and Zabalbeascoa on audiovisual translation and humour transfer, the latter focusing on a selection of examples representing various types of humour. Each of those examples is examined by a comparison of both versions to determine what impact the translation strategy had on the Polish audience. The final findings reveal that substitution was the most frequently used strategy, while omission turned out to be the least common one. Based on the results, it can be deducted that the Polish dubbing successfully preserved the comedy from the original version. In some cases, the translator managed to maintain the humour and also enhance it for the Polish audience, mainly through adaptation. The thesis demonstrates that effective humour translation does not necessarily rely on strict equivalence but often requires careful recreation.
