Evolution of financial market under the influence of financial innovations basing on the examples of Poland and United States of America

Praca dotyczy innowacji finansowych występujących na współczesnym polskim i amerykańskim rynku finansowym. Opisano w niej ewolucję rynku finansowego oraz jego uczestników. Wykazano różnice pomiędzy funkcjonującymi dwoma modelami - anglosaskim i amerykańskim oraz wskazano na zacieranie między nimi granic. Zdefiniowano istotę innowacji finansowych, a także dokonano ich podziału na innowacyjne instrumenty, instytucje oraz procesy. Przeanalizowano również polski i amerykański rynek finansowy ze względu na występowanie na nich poszczególnych instrumentów finansowych. Wnioski z części empirycznej pokazują, iż na bardziej rozwiniętym rynku amerykańskim występuje znacznie więcej innowacji finansowych oraz ich skala jest większa, co oznacza że pojawianie się innowacji finansowych jest ściśle związane z poziomem rozwoju danego rynku.

This thesis concerns financial innovations existing on the contemporary Polish and American financial markets. It includes description of evolution of financial market, and its participants. The thesis shows the difference between the Anglo-Saxon and the continental banking model as well as the process of obscuring the boundaries between them. It defines the term ”financial innovation”, includes the classification into innovative instruments, institiutions and processes. The author analyzes the Polish and the American financial markets in terms of the presence of financial innovations. The conclusion of the empirical part is that on the American financial market there are more financial innovations than on the Polish one, which indicates that the presence of financial innovations is strictly connected to the level of financial market development.
