The Sanguszko Archive in Gumniska (and its subsequent fate)

Poniższa praca "Archiwum Sanguszków w Gumniskach (i jego późniejsze losy)" przedstawia historię rodu i archiwum Sanguszków skupiając się na dalszych losach zbiorów archiwalnych przechowywanych w latach 1924-1941 w pałacu w podtarnowskich Gumniskach. Celem pracy było wykazanie jak wielkie zbiory archiwalne mogły być przechowywane w pałacu w Gumniskach, porównując obecny stan archiwum z wiedzą o jego stanie sprzed przybycia do Gumnisk.Praca przedstawia stan badań nad polskimi archiwami podworskimi, skupiając się szczególnie na archiwum Sanguszków. Następnie opisuje historię rodu, archiwum jak i pałacu Sanguszków. Do napisania pracy użyto fachowej literatury historycznej i archiwistycznej, zaś do celów badawczych posłużono się inwentarzem Archiwum Sanguszków z Archiwum Narodowego w Krakowie, w celu rozpoznania ilości zachowanych zbiorów. Wykazano, że pomimo ciężkich warunków przechowywania oraz dwóch wojen światowych, obecny stan archiwum w zdecydowanej większości pokrywa się ze stanem archiwum gumniskiego, tym samym obecny inwentarz Archiwum Sanguszków w Archiwum Narodowym w Krakowie, przedstawia niemal pełny obraz tego, co znajdowało się w zbiorach Sanguszków w Gumniskach, posiadając również zbiory nieznajdujące się w XX-leciu międzywojennym w ramach archiwum rodowego.

The following work "The Sanguszko Archive in Gumniska (and its subsequent fate)" presents the history of the Sanguszko family and the Sanguszko archive, focusing on the subsequent fate of the archival collection stored in 1924-1941 in the palace in Gumniska, near Tarnow. The aim of the work was to demonstrate how large archival collections could have been stored in the palace in Gumniska, comparing the current state of the archive with knowledge of its condition before its arrival in Gumniska.The paper presents the state of research on Polish noble archives, focusing particularly on the Sanguszko archive. It then describes the history of the family, the archive as well as the Sanguszko palace. Expert historical and archival literature was used to write the paper, while the inventory of the Sanguszko Archive from the National Archive in Cracow was used for research purposes, in order to identify the amount of preserved collections. It was shown that despite the harsh storage conditions and two world wars, the current state of the archive overwhelmingly coincides with that of the Gumniska archive, thus the current inventory of the Sanguszko Archive at the National Archives in Kraków, presents an almost complete picture of what was in the Sanguszko collection in Gumniska, also having collections not found in the 20th interwar period as part of the family archive.
