Freedom and coercion in Maria Montessori's pedagogy on the background of the New Education

Niniejsza praca jest próbą podjęcia refleksji na temat systemu swobody i przymusu obecnego w wychowaniu Marii Montessori. Jej celem jest ukazanie pedagogiki Marii Montessori na tle Nowego Wychowania jako pewien fenomen tego okresu, który na nowo zdefiniował wychowanie i relację pomiędzy dzieckiem a wychowawcą. W pracy zostało przedstawione ogólne zagadnienie swobody i przymusu w wychowaniu, a następnie jego uszczegółowienie na gruncie Nowego Wychowania i pedagogiki Marii Montessori. Analiza systemu wychowawczego Marii Montessori pozwoliła określić, na jakiej zasadzie istnieje w nim swoboda wychowanka i czy jest ona tożsama z całkowitym brakiem przymusu.

The following thesis is an attempt to reflect on on the system of freedom and coercion present in Montessori education. Its aim is to show Montessori's pedagogy against the New Education as a phenomenon of this period, which redefined education and the relationship between the child and the teacher. The work presented the general issue of freedom in education, then the detailing on the basis of pedagogy Montessori and the New Education. Analysis of Maria Montessori's educational system allowed to determine on what basis exists in the freedom ward and whether it is identical to the complete absence of coercion.
