Shaping of the Polish-German Border in Upper Silesia from 1918 to 1921 in the Light of the Journalism of the Newspaper "Kurier Poznański"

Przedmiotem pracy jest analiza kształtowania się granicy polsko-niemieckiej na Górnym Śląsku w latach 1918 – 1921 w świetle publicystyki dziennika ,,Kuriera Poznańskiego’’. W niniejszej pracy skupiłem się na poddaniu krytyce publikowanych przez dziennik informacji dotyczących powstań śląskich i plebiscytu. Badaniom podległ także stosunek redakcji ,,Kuriera’’ do powstańców śląskich, Niemców, rządu polskiego, Międzysojuszniczej Komisji i wojsk międzysojuszniczych. Praca ta ma również ustalić jaką postawę wobec powstań redakcja dziennika chciała propagować wśród swoich czytelników. Praca składa się z czterech rozdziałów. Pierwszy z nich został poświęcony charakterystyce ,,Kuriera’’ oraz sytuacji na Górnym Śląsku pod koniec Wielkiej Wojny i w pierwszych latach powojennych. W rozdziale drugim przeanalizowałem publikacje dziennika dotyczące I powstania śląskiego. Trzeci rozdział objął weryfikację komunikatów ,,Kuriera’’ o II powstaniu. Natomiast ostatni rozdział stanowił analizę informacji pisma na temat plebiscytu na Górnym Śląsku i III powstania.

The subject of this work is the analysis of the formation of the Polish-German border in Upper Silesia in the years 1918-1921 in the light of the journalism of the "Kurier Poznański" daily. In this paper, I focused on critiquing the information published by the newspaper regarding the Silesian uprisings and the plebiscite. The research also examined the editorial stance of the "Kurier" towards the Silesian insurgents, Germans, the Polish government, the Inter-Allied Commission, and the inter-Allied troops. This work also aims to determine the attitude that the newspaper's editorial board wanted to propagate among its readers regarding the uprisings. The work consists of four chapters. The first one is devoted to the characteristics of the "Kurier" and the situation in Upper Silesia at the end of the Great War and in the early post-war years. In the second chapter, I analyzed the newspaper's publications concerning the First Silesian Uprising. The third chapter covered the verification of the "Kurier" reports on the Second Uprising. The final chapter analyzed the newspaper's information on the plebiscite in Upper Silesia and the Third Uprising.
