Empathy : the language of the heart in school?

Artykuł porusza kwestię roli szkoły w kształtowaniu empatii u uczniów. Przedstawiono zestawienie definicji empatii w pracach uznanych badaczy i trudności wynikające z wielości definicji. Autorka stawia tezę, że wprowadzenie do praktyki szkolnej elementów języka porozumienia bez przemocy i definiowanie empatii wg tego podejścia może przynieść znaczną korzyść uczniom i nauczycielom. Przedstawia propozycje sytuacji z praktyki szkolnej, w których porozumienie bez przemocy kształtuje empatię i wzbogaca życie uczniów i nauczycieli.

This article is about teaching empathy. The author presents the most popular psychological definitions of empathy and points out some troubling effects of multiplicity of these deffinitions. The main argument of the article is to bring empathy to schools by using nonviolent communication created by Marshall Rosenberg and to use his definitione of empathy. The author presents main rulez of NVC and maintains that using NVC can enrich students’ and teachers’ lives in many ways. School-life situations presented in this article work as exaplmes of how to implement NVC into school and what are the advantages it may bring.
