The impact of EU funds on the socio-economic development of Głogów in the years 2007-2013

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza wpływu funduszy unijnych na rozwój społeczno-gospodarczy Głogowa. Skupiono się na latach 2007-2013. Praca polega na ocenie a następnie analizie ilościowej i jakościowej zrealizowanych projektów. Analiza ilościowa rozpatrywana została pod względem zainwestowanych środków oraz wartości dotacji otrzymanych przez Urząd Miejski w Głogowie. Natomiast analizę jakościową przeprowadzono na podstawie porównania zrealizowanych przedsięwzięć, pod względem adekwatności celu i zaistniałych rezultatów do sporządzonej analizy SWOT sytuacji społeczno-gospodarczej Głogowa. W pracy wykorzystano wywiad, jako metodę badań jakościowych w naukach o zarządzaniu. Wywiad przeprowadzono z Prezydentem Miasta Głogowa oraz Kierownikiem Zespołu Projektów Zewnętrznych. W pracy stwierdzono, że wpływ funduszy unijnych jest znaczący w przypadku wielu aspektów dotyczących sytuacji gospodarczej i społecznej miasta, bez nich ten stan nie mógłby ulec zmianie, a celowość projektów była odpowiednia.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the impact of EU funds on the social and economic development of Głogów. The focus is on the years between 2007 and 2013. The paper consists of evaluating and then performing a quantitative and qualitative analysis of completed projects. The quantitative analysis focused on the invested funds and the value of subsidies received by the Town Hall in Głogów. The qualitative analysis was carried out by comparing the completed projects in terms of the adequacy of the objective and the achieved results to the prepared SWOT analysis of the social and economic situation of Głogów. For the purpose of this paper, the selected method of qualitative research in management sciences was the interview. Interviews were conducted with the Mayor of Głogów and the Head of the External Projects Team. The thesis concluded that the impact of EU funds is significant in many aspects of the economic and social situation of the city and that without them the situation could remain unchanged, and that the purposefulness of the projects was appropriate.
