The Gallery of 19th-Century Polish Art in the Sukiennice. History of a exhibition. Process and evaluation of the "New Sukiennice" Project.

Tematem pracy jest charakterystyka kolejnych pomysłów na galerię w Sukiennicach w XX wieku, przebieg najnowszej renowacji Sukiennic w latach 2006-2010 oraz rezultaty projektu: "Nowe Sukiennice". Opisane są także dzieje budynku Sukiennic oraz początki działania Muzeum Narodowego w Krakowie w XIX wieku. Sukiennice są jednym z najbardziej charakterystycznych i popularnych zabytków Krakowa. To symbol, nawet serce miasta, a w przeszłości centrum życia gospodarczego. Przez lata były miejscem odbywania się uroczystości historycznych i balów. Od drugiej połowy XIX wieku są siedzibą Muzeum Narodowego w Krakowie. Po ponad stuletnim okresie użytkowania wymagały remontu i nowoczesnych udogodnień. Projekt "Nowe Sukiennice" sprawił, że Galeria stała się nowoczesną instytucją muzealną i odzyskała blask. Realizacja tego przedsięwzięcia i efekt prac stał się przykładem działań na rzecz ratowania i upowszechniania dziedzictwa narodowego.

The theme of the work is the description of further ideas for the gallery in the Sukiennice in the 20th century, the latest renovation of the Sukiennice in 2006-2010 and the results of the New Sukiennice project. Also, the history of the Sukiennice and describe the beginnings of the National Museum in Kraków in the 19th century.The thesis is about one of the most characteristic and popular monuments of Krakow. It is a symbol, even the heart of the city, and in the past the center of economic life. From the second falf of the 19th century, they are the seat of the National Museum in Krakow. After more than a hundred years of service, they needed renovation and modern facilities. The "New Sukiennice" project made the Gallery a modern museum institution.
