Sztuka Zwycięstwa Phila Knighta w kontekście Autobiografii Benjamina Franklina

Celem niniejszej pracy jest zbadanie wizerunku dwóch amerykańskich ludzi sukcesu, a mianowicie Phila Knighta w książce pt. Sztuka Zwycięstwa oraz Benjamina Franklina w Autobiografii. Głównym obszarem tematycznym pracy jest analiza potencjalnej inspiracji Knighta sylwetką Franklina. Wprowadzenie przedstawia krótką definicję autobiografii jako gatunku oraz krótki zarys jednych z pierwszych amerykańskich dzieł autobiograficznych. Pierwszy oraz drugi rozdział omawiają, odpowiednio, wizerunek Knighta i Franklina. Rozdziały te zawierają streszczenia oraz ogólny zarys obydwu wyżej wymienionych książek, a także krytycyzm ich autorów. Podsumowanie pracy składa się z wniosków dotyczących analizy wizerunków tych postaci poprzez ich zestawienie. Sekcja ta zawiera również analizę podobieństw między Philem Knightem a Benjaminem Franklinem w kontekście pragmatyzmu występującego w Sztuce Zwycięstwa oraz Autobiografii.

The thesis explores the images of the two successful Americans, namely Phil Knight in Shoe Dog and Benjamin Franklin in Autobiography. The main issue in this work is investigating the possibility of Benjamin Franklin being the source of inspiration for Phil Knight. The introduction provides a reader with a definition of the autobiography as a genre and a short outline of the first American autobiographical writings. The first and the second chapter discuss, respectively, the image of Phil Knight and of Benjamin Franklin. The chapters contain the summary and overview of the two aforementioned books as well as the criticism of their authors. The thesis ends with the conclusions that sum up the analysis of Phil Knight’s and Benjamin Franklin’s images by juxtaposing them. It also contains the analysis of the similarities between Knight and Franklin in the context of pragmatism in Shoe Dog and The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin.
