Pornography Use, Sexual Satisfaction and Anxiety in Adults in a Heterosexual Relationship

Praca dotyczy zależności między korzystaniem z pornografii przez osoby dorosłe będące w heteroseksualnym związku a ich satysfakcją z życia seksualnego i poziomem lęku. Badanie przeprowadzono za pośrednictwem ankiety online, wzięło w nim udział N=237 osób (185 kobiet i 52 mężczyzn). Do oceny satysfakcji seksualnej użyto Nowej Skali Satysfakcji Seksualnej, do mierzenia lęku użyto Kwestionariusza STAI. Badano różnice płciowe w częstotliwości korzystania z pornografii, a także zależność pomiędzy korzystaniem z niej a poziomem satysfakcji seksualnej i poziomem lęku. Wykazano, że mężczyźni korzystają z pornografii częściej niż kobiety. Nie wykazano istotnego negatywnego związku pomiędzy częstotliwością oglądania pornografii a satysfakcją seksualną i lękiem, zarówno w grupie kobiet jak i mężczyzn. Nieistotny negatywny związek między korzystaniem z pornografii przez partnera a poziomem satysfakcji seksualnej wykazano jedynie w grupie kobiet. Nie wykazano istotnych różnic w poziomie satysfakcji seksualnej między grupami osób, które korzystają z pornografii samemu lub w towarzystwie partnera.

The article deals with the relation between the use of pornography by adults in a heterosexual relationships and their sexual satisfaction and anxiety levels. The study was conducted via an online survey, N = 237 participants (185 women and 52 men). To assess sexual satisfaction, The New Scale of Sexual Satisfaction was used, and to measure anxiety the STAI Questionnaire was used. Gender differences in the frequency of pornography use were investigated, as well as the relationship between use and the level of sexual satisfaction and anxiety levels. Men have been shown to use pornography more often than women. There was no negative correlation between the frequency of viewing pornography and sexual satisfaction and anxiety in both the female and male groups. In the group of women a statistically insignificant negative relationship between the partner's pornography use and the level of sexual satisfaction was found.
