The death penalty. analysis of selected arguments for and against

Celem niniejszej pracy jest zbadanie kary śmierci jako fenomenu prawnego, moralnego i społeczno-kulturowego, przeanalizowanie jej znaczenia, skuteczności i wpływu na społeczeństwo. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów. Pierwszy rozdział pod tytułem “Historia kary śmierci jako sposób wymierzania sprawiedliwości” obejmuje analizę i omówienie poglądów najważniejszych postaci epoki starożytnej, średniowiecznej, nowożytnej oraz w okresie XIX- XX wieku. W rozdziale drugim zwanym “Główne argumenty przeciwko karze śmierci” przedstawiono argumenty przeciwko stosowaniu wyżej wymienionej kary. Trzeci rozdział poświęcony jest analizie głównych argumentów osób wspierających karę śmierci. Ostatni rozdział kończy się odpowiedzią na główne pytanie, czy warto stosować taką karę, jak kara śmierci? W tej prace dyplomowej zebrano źródła elektroniczne, materiały badawcze oraz literaturę przedmiotu, głównym źródłem informacji dla pierwszego rozdziału, który jest poświęcony historii kary śmierci jest książka Tadeusza Ślipko pod tytułem “Kara śmierci. Za czy przeciw”. Praca zawiera artykuły różnych autorów, a także odniesienia do aktów prawnych.

The aim of this work is to examine the death penalty as a legal, moral and socio-cultural phenomenon, analyzing its meaning, effectiveness and impact on society. The work consists of three chapters. The first chapter titled "The history of the death penalty as a method of administering justice" includes an analysis and discussion of the views of the most important figures of the ancient, medieval, modern eras and in the 19th and 20th centuries. The second chapter, called "Main arguments against the death penalty", presents arguments against the application of the above-mentioned penalty. The third chapter is devoted to analyzing the main arguments of people supporting the death penalty. The last chapter ends with an answer to the main question: is it worth using a punishment such as the death penalty? This diploma thesis collected electronic sources, research materials and literature on the subject, the main source of information for the first chapter, which is devoted to the history of the death penalty, is Tadeusz Ślipko's book titled "The Death Penalty. For or against". The work contains articles by various authors, as well as references to legal acts.
