Schengen area: benefits and threats for Poland

Niniejsza praca zajmuje się problematyką strefy Schengen oraz płynących z niej korzyści lub zagrożeń dla Polski. W pracy scharakteryzowano genezę strefy Schengen i przeanalizowano prawne aspekty układu z Schengen. Zbadano również politykę wizową i azylową w strefie Schengen. Analiza dostępnych źródeł naukowych pozwoliła na określenie miejsca i roli RP w strefie Schengen. Należy zwrócić uwagę, że Rzeczpospolita Polska stała się ważnym ogniwem w procesie zapewniania bezpieczeństwa granic zewnętrznych strefy Schengen. Badanie zalet i wad członkostwa Polski w strefie Schengen pozwoliło na stwierdzenie, że zalet jest znacznie więcej, a członkostwo Polski w strefie Schengen zostało odnotowane jako jedno z głównych osiągnięć RP. Dane z monitoringu opinii publicznej w krajach UE pokazały, że najbardziej pozytywnymi aspektami strefy Schengen, zdaniem Polaków, jest to, że ułatwia ona handel i codzienne podróże transgraniczne oraz usuwa kontrolę paszportową.Poniższe opracowanie składa się ze Wstępu, czterech Rozdziałów i ośmiu podrozdziałów, części poświęconej Wnioskom, Bibliografii, Spisu rysunków i Tabel. Przeanalizowano obszerną literaturę naukową oraz ramy prawne związane z problemem badawczym.

This work deals with the issues of the Schengen area and its benefits or threats for Poland. The work characterizes the origins of the Schengen area and analyzes the legal aspects of the Schengen Agreement. Visa and asylum policies in the Schengen area were also examined. The analysis of available scientific sources made it possible to determine the place and role of the Republic of Poland in the Schengen area. It should be noted that the Republic of Poland has become an important link in the process of ensuring the security of the external borders of the Schengen area. The study of the advantages and disadvantages of Poland's membership in the Schengen area allowed for the conclusion that there are many more advantages, and Poland's membership in the Schengen area has been noted as one of the main achievements of the Republic of Poland. Data from monitoring public opinion in EU countries showed that the most positive aspects of the Schengen area, according to Poles, are that it facilitates trade and daily cross-border travel and removes passport controls.The study below consists of an Introduction, four Chapters and eight subchapters, a part devoted to Conclusions, Bibliography, List of Figures and Tables. Extensive scientific literature and the legal framework related to the research problem were analyzed.
