Praca przedstawia historię początku pierwszej komandorii Joannitów w Polsce oraz skupia się na ustaleniu pochodzenia warsztatu, który wybudował kościół św. Jana Chrzciciela w Zagości. Wyjątkowa na skalę Polski i Europy artykulacja elewacji zewnętrznej wciąż jest tematem rozważań wielu badaczy. W pracy przedstawiono historię Joannitów, najistotniejsze dokumenty związane z komandorią w Zagości, zebrano bibliografię, która podejmuje temat fundacji oraz starano się przedstawić kościół św. Jana Chrzciciela na tle architektury polskiej i europejskiej. W pracy wykorzystano analizę źródeł pisanych oraz dokumentacji konserwatorskiej, analizę formalno-genetyczną oraz ikonograficzną.

The thesis presents the history of the establishment of the first Commandery of the Knights Hospitaller in Poland and focuses on determining the origin of the workshop that built the Church of St. John the Baptist in Zagosc. The exceptional articulation of the external elevation, on a Polish and European scale, continues to be a subject of consideration for many researchers. The thesis presents the history of the Knights Hospitaller, the most significant documents related to the Commandery in Zagosc, compiles a bibliography that addresses the topic of the foundation, and strives to present the Church of St. John the Baptist in the context of Polish and European architecture. The study utilizes the analysis of written sources and conservation documentation, formal-genetic analysis, and iconographic analysis.
