Word formation of Arabic nouns in the field of football.

Praca skupia się na słowotwórstwie rzeczowników arabskich w dziedzinie piłki nożnej we współczesnym standardowym języku arabskim. Słownictwo źródłowe zostało zaczerpnięte z przepisów gry, słowników oraz artykułów prasowych, a następnie sklasyfikowane z uwzględnieniem podziału na trzy rodzaje słowotwórstwa – derywację, kompozycję i adaptację. Ponadto zastosowano podział leksyki na kategorie słowotwórcze w odniesieniu do semantyki wyrazów. Praca ta pozwala ustalić, w jaki sposób przebiega proces słowotwórczy terminów stosowanych w języku piłki nożnej, a także ukazuje podobieństwa i różnice w słownictwie piłkarskim pomiędzy językiem polskim a arabskim językiem literackim.

The thesis focuses on the word formation of Arabic nouns in the field of football in Modern Standard Arabic. The source material has been collected on the basis of the laws of the game, dictionaries and press articles and then classified into three types of word formation – derivation, composition and adaptation. Furthermore, the lexis has been divided into word formation categories with reference to the semantics of the words. The paper allows us to establish how the process of word formation of the terms used in the language of football takes place, and it also shows the similarities and differences in football vocabulary between Polish and literary Arabic.
