‘Walesa. Man of Hope’ directed by Andrzej Wajda. Between social image, script and screen realization

Głównym celem niniejszej pracy było zestawienie i porównanie produkcji Andrzeja Wajdy "Wałęsa. Człowiek z nadziei" z książką Janusza Głowackiego "Przyszłem czyli jak pisałem scenariusz o Lechu Wałęsie dla Andrzeja Wajdy" jako komplementarnych tworów kultury, traktujących o polskim prezydencie i nobliście. W pracy uwzględniłam analizę postaci ekranowej Lecha Wałęsy, omawiając przede wszystkim: sposób kreacji głównego bohatera, mechanizmy, jakim podlega oraz obraz, jaki konstytuuje. Równocześnie zależało mi na zbadaniu konstrukcji samego filmu. Skupiłam się również na wykazaniu analogicznych cech poszczególnych scen, przyporządkowanych do konkretnych działów za pomocą dobranego odpowiednio klucza tematycznego. Zarzucone pomysły porównywałam z zaaprobowanymi przez reżysera i cały zespół twórców. Poszerzyłam perspektywę porównawczą o początkowe idee scenarzysty, które porządkować miały zbiór wydarzeń, włączonych przez reżysera w obręb realizacji. Szczególną część pracy stanowi prezentacja i analiza tła powstawania scenariusza oraz towarzyszące temu procesowi okoliczności.

The overriding idea of this paper was to correlate and compare the biopic directed by Andrzej Wajda ‘Walesa. Man Of Hope’ with the book of Janusz Głowacki entitled ‘Przyszłem czyli jak pisałem scenariusz o Lechu Wałęsie dla Andrzeja Wajdy’ as a complementary creations of culture talking through Polish President and a Nobel prize winner. The study took into account the analysis of Lech Walesa as a screen character, discussing in particular: the way of creation of the main character, the mechanisms of which it comes under and picture what constitutes. The studies were to examine the structure of the film itself as well. The attention was paid to demonstrate the analogous characteristics of the individual scenes, assigned to specific departments using appropriately selected key theme. All the ideas presented in this paper subsequently were compared with those which were approved by the director and the entire team of co-workers. The perspective of the comparative look was broadened with the initial ideas of the screenwriter which which were to organize all the sequences of events included by the director in the sphere of implementation. A special part of the study constitutes the presentation and analysis of the background scenario creation process and accompanying circumstances.
