W swojej pracy analizuję przemiany trzech różnych bohaterów z trzech różnych utworów: Jakuba ze "Sklepów cynamonowych" B. Schulza, Gregora Samsy z "Przemiany" Kafki oraz tytułowego bohatera z "Ptaśka" W. Whartona. Skupiam się na ich przeobrażeniu w zwierzęta, szukam przyczyn metamorfoz oraz dociekam ich znaczenia. Odnajduję cechy wspólne takie jak samotność i izolowanie się od świata. Poruszam także temat obłędu i szaleństwa, które dotyka dwóch bohaterów. Metamorfozy, które omawiam są wyrazem tęsknoty do wolności, pragnieniem poznania innej formy oraz metaforą odrzucenia i przygnębienia.
In my essay I am analyzing the transformations of three different characters from three different works: Jacob from "Cinnamon Shops" by B. Schulz, Gregor Samsa from Kafka's "Metamorphosis" and the title character from "Birdy" by W. Wharton. I focus on transforming them into animals, looking for the causes of metamorphosis and finding out their meaning. I find common traits such as loneliness and isolation from the world. I also discuss the topic of insanity and madness that touches two characters. Metamorphoses that I discuss are an expression of longing for freedom, the desire to learn another form, and the metaphor of rejection and despair.
