How development and integration of common electricity transmission system affects energy security and political integration in Europe

Praca opisuje jak rozwój wspólnego systemu transmisji prądu w Europie wpływa na bezpieczeństwo energetyczne i integrację polityczną. Praca rozpatruje rozbudowę transgranicznej infrastruktury przesyłu prądu przez pryzmat cyberbezpieczeństwa, bezpieczeństwa dostaw i bezpieczeństwa energetycznego oraz teorii neofunkcjonalistycznej z zakresu teorii integracji europejskiej. The paper describes how the development of a common power transmission system in Europe affects energy security and political integration. The paper considers the expansion of cross-border transmission infrastructure through the concepts of cyber security, security of supply and energy security, and neofunctionalist theory of European integration theory. The paper identifies the development of electricity transmission infrastructure as a driver of integration, particularly within the European energy market, and shows that the development of this infrastructure is an effect of European integration. The paper also diagnoses some of the potential risks of the expansion of cross-border transmission infrastructure to system cybersecurity, but also finds a positive correlation between the degree of interconnection and security of supply and environmental/climate security.
