Totemism in Chinese culture

Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie praktyk totemistycznych w Chinach. Pierwszy rozdział traktuje o totemizmie jako zjawisku antropologicznym- przytaczam jego definicje i staram się odpowiedzieć na pytanie: czym jest totemizm. W kolejnym rozdziale skupiam się na totemizmie w Chinach- jego śladach w kulturze, mitologii i wierzeniach mniejszości etnicznych i Chińczyków Han. W trzecim rozdziale poruszam kwestię zwierząt w Chinach- ich związek z totemizmem, a także współczesne podejście Chinczyków do ich traktowania. W pracy opierach się na badaniach antropologów takich jak Levi-Strauss czy Frazer, ale także na najnowszych artykułach dotyczących chińskiej kultury.

The purpose of this thesis is to present totemistic practices in China. The first chapter deals with totemism as an anthropological phenomenon - I quote its definitions and try to answer the question: what totemism is. In the next chapter I focus on totemism in China - its traces in the culture, mythology and beliefs of ethnic minorities and Han Chinese. In the third chapter I bring up the issue of animals in China - their relation with totemism, as well as the modern approach of the Chinese people to their treatment. In this thesis, I rely on the research of anthropologists such as Levi-Strauss and Frazer, but also on the latest articles on Chinese culture.
