Glossary of hand-made jewelry terms

Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy jest analiza słownictwa związanego z dziedziną ręcznie wykonywanej biżuterii oraz stworzenie glosariusza terminów należących do dziedziny w dwóch językach: polskim i angielskim.Pierwsze trzy rozdziały pracy stanowią jej część teoretyczną. W rozdziale pierwszym opisano historię biżuterii na przestrzeni epok, począwszy od czasów prehistorycznych po obecny status ręcznie robionej biżuterii. W drugim rozdziale zaprezentowano dziedzinę terminologii i jej historię od uznania za samodzielną dyscyplinę przez Eugena Wüstera po opracowanie założeń komunikacyjnej teorii terminologii przez Marię Teresę Cabré. Rozdział trzeci opisuje terminografię, czyli gałąź stosowaną terminologii, oraz przedstawia kolejne etapy prac terminograficznych.Ostatni rozdział stanowi część praktyczną pracy. Opisano w nim przeprowadzone prace terminograficzne, które doprowadziły do stworzenia glosariusza terminów z dziedziny ręcznie wykonywanej biżuterii.Praca obejmuje również dwa załączniki: mapy pojęciowe dziedziny i dwujęzyczny glosariusz obejmujący podstawowe terminy z zakresu półfabrykatów do wyrobu biżuterii, technik tworzenia, narzędzi oraz materiałów wykonania.

The purpose of this work is to analyze the vocabulary connected with the subject field of hand-made jewelry and to create a glossary of the terms in two languages: English and Polish.The first three chapters of the work constitute its theoretical part. The first chapter describes the history of jewelry starting from the prehistoric times until the status of hand-made jewelry nowadays. The second chapter introduces the subject field of terminology and its history from acknowledging it as an independent field by Eugen Wüster until the development of the Communicative Theory of Terminology by Maria Teresa Cabré. The third chapter describes terminography – the applied branch of terminology – and lays out the stages of terminographic work.The last chapter is the practical part of the work. It contains the description of the terminographic work that has been carried out in order to create the glossary of hand-made jewelry terms.The work also contains two appendices: conceptual maps of the field as well as a bilingual glossary of basic terms connected with jewelry findings, techniques of jewelry-making, tools and materials.
