The soil cover of the Polish Tatra Mountains

Pokrywa glebowa Tatr Polskich cechuje się dużym zróżnicowaniem ze względu na złożoność środowiska przyrodniczego tego obszaru. Gleby w Tatrach wykazują piętrowość oraz występowanie w płatach. Tworzy to mozaikowatą pokrywę glebową. Najbardziej powszechne w Tatrach Polskich są gleby słabo ukształtowanetakie jak: gleby inicjalne, rankery, regosole, rędziny właściwe, mady właściwe oraz gleby deluwialne właściwe. Gleby brunatnoziemne występują na niewielkiej powierzchni i są to: gleby brunatne, mady brunatne oraz rędziny brunatne. Gleby bielicowe występują na znacznie większej powierzchni Tatr, ponieważ warunki klimatyczne, podłoże oraz roślinność sprzyjają rozwojowi procesu bielicowania. Na niewielkich powierzchniach wytworzyły się gleby czarnoziemne, glejoziemne oraz organiczne. W miejscach z infrastrukturą techniczną i turystyczną występują gleby antropogeniczne.

The soil cover of the polish part of Tatra Mountains is very diverse due to heterogeneity of the natural environment of this area. The soils in the Tatra Mountains exhibit high diversity with the altitude and occur in the form of fragmented cover. Weakly developed soils are the most abundant in the analyzed area. They are represented by initial soils, rankes, regosols, rendzinas, alluvial and delluvial soils. Brown earths exist sparsely in the Polish Tatra Mountains. The types of brown soils in the Tatras include: brown soils, alluvial brown earths and brown rendzinas. Podzols occur in a large area of the Tatra Mountains due to the climate conditions, geology, and vegetation, which favor the podzolization process. Black soils, gleyic soils and organic soils formed locally and cover very small areaof the Tatra Mountains. Anthropogenic soils exist only in areas with human built technic and touristic infrastructure.
