Stay or leave? : Jews in Poland after World War II, emigration to Israel and life in the new homeland

The main aim of this article is to describe the situation of Jews in post-war Poland, reasons of emigration from Poland to Israel and the process of leaving Poland. The research will deal as well with the study of how the newcomers absorbed and assimilated with the Israeli society. The article will try to demonstrate also the importance and significance of the emigration for Poland and for Israel – to what extend did the emigration influence social, political and cultural life in both countries.

Основная цель этой статьи – описать положение евреев в послевоенной Польше, причины эмиграции из Польши в Израиль и процесс отъезда из Польши. Автор рассматривает также, как вновь прибывшие абсорбируются и осваиваются в израильском обществе. В статье также предпринимается попытка продемонстри-ровать важность и значение эмиграции для Польши и Израиля и показать, в какой степени эмиграция повлияла на общественную, политическую и культурную жизнь обеих стран.
