Cryptocurrencies – opportunities and dangers in modern world

Celem pracy magisterskiej jest ukazanie potencjału i możliwych zastosowań kryptowalut w świecie współczesnym. Ukazane zostały między innymi zastosowania kryptowalut i powiązanych technologii w systemie bankowym, możliwości pozyskiwania kapitału dla firm czy też wizja stworzenia kryptowalut państwowych, które mogłyby być kolejnym etapem ewolucji pieniądza. Pomimo dużego potencjału związane są z nimi również ryzyka, takie jak utrata środków, działalność przestępcza, upadki giełd kryptowalut oraz inne oszustwa, które również zostały opisane w pracy. Analizie zostały poddane systemy prawne poszczególnych państw, także tych, które zdecydowały się uznać kryptowaluty za oficjalny środek płatniczy. Pokazane zostało również jak obecnie kryptowaluty są używane oraz postrzegane przez osoby je posiadające oraz jaki mają potencjał na przyszłość.

The objective of the master’s thesis is to present the potential and possible applications of cryptocurrencies in the modern world. Among other things, the uses of cryptocurrencies and related technologies in the banking system have been highlighted, as well as the possibilities of capital acquisition for companies and the vision of creating state-backed cryptocurrencies, which could be the next stage in the evolution of money. Despite their significant potential, cryptocurrencies are also associated with risks, such as fund loss, criminal activity, cryptocurrency exchange collapses, and other scams, which are also described in the thesis. The analysis also explores legal systems of individual countries, including those that have recognized cryptocurrencies as an official means of payment. Furthermore, the thesis demonstrates how cryptocurrencies are currently used and perceived by those who hold them, as well as their potential for the future.
