Praca jest próbą opisania misji franciszkańskich pod przywództwem Jana di Piano Carpiniego oraz Wilhelma z Rubruk. W pracy zawarto informacje o przyczynach tych wypraw uwzględniając sytuacje polityczną w Europie przed oraz po najazdach mongolskich. Opisany został także ich przebieg oraz skutki jakie przyniosły one swoim mocodawcom. Pierwszy rozdział poświęcony został sytuacji w Europie do najazdu na Polskę i Węgry w latach 1241-1242 oraz procesowi kształtowania się potęgi Imperium Mongolskiego. Drugi rozdział opisuje przyczyny, przebieg oraz skutki misji Jana di Piano Carpiniego w latach 1245-1247. Trzeci zaś jest opisem wyprawy Wilhelma z Rubruk w latach 1253-1255.
The work attempts to describe the Franciscan missions led by John di Piano Carpini and William of Rubruk. The work contains information about the reasons for these expeditions, taking into consideration the political situation in Europe before and after the Mongol invasions. The course of the expeditions and the effects they brought to their principals are also described. The first chapter is devoted to the situation in Europe before the invasion of Poland and Hungary in 1241-1242 and the process of shaping the power of the Mongol Empire. The second chapter describes the causes, course and effects of John di Piano Carpini's mission in the years 1245-1247, while the third describes William of Rubruk's expedition in the years 1253-1255.
