The Kontrast Student Dance Theater

Praca przedstawia historię Studenckiego Teatru Tańca Konrast, pierwszego w Polsce amatorskiego teatru tańca, założonego przez tancerza i nauczyciela Jacka Tomasika. Prowadził on zespół przez ponad 30 lat, tworzył nowatorskie choreografie i wyjątkowe spektakle taneczne, nieporównywalne do innych wystawianych w Polsce w latach siedemdziesiątych XX wieku. W pracy opisane są najważniejsze spektakle zespołu, sposób funkcjonowania grupy na przestrzeni lat oraz zmiany, które następowały w zespole oraz w polskim środowisku tanecznym, głównie w latach osiemdziesiątych i dziewięćdziesiątych. Zaznaczony jest także kontekst historyczny oraz historyczno-polityczny. Przedstawiony jest Jacek Tomasik, artysta, który nie tylko tworzył Kontrast, ale także współpracował z reżyserami teatralnymi z całej Polski, tworząc choreografie do wielu spektakli. Praca oparta jest na wywiadach przeprowadzonych przez autorkę z byłymi członkami Kontrastu oraz na informacjach zawartych w prywatnych archiwach zespołu.

The work presents the story of the Konrast Student Dance Theater, the first amateur dance theater in Poland, founded by the dancer and teacher Jacek Tomasik. He led the ensemble for over 30 years, created innovative choreographies and unique dance performances, incomparable to others staged in Poland in the 1970s. The work describes the most important performances of the group, the way the group has operated over the years and the changes that took place in the group and in the Polish dance environment, mainly in the 1980s and 1990s. The historical and historical-political context is also marked. Jacek Tomasik was presented, an artist who not only created Kontrast, but also collaborated with theater and film directors all over Poland, creating choreographies for many performances. The work is based on interviews conducted by the author with former members of Kontrast and information contained in the private archives of the group.
