Rozwój sztuki filmowej był ściśle powiązany z literaturą. Wzajemne przenikanie się tych sztuk wpłynęło na pojawienie się prasy filmowej, publikującej liczne teksty nawiązujące tematyką do kina. Wśród nich istotną rolę odegrało publikowanie scenariuszy, a następnie tekstów tworzonych na podstawie filmów. Umożliwiło to przeniesienie siódmej sztuki na płaszczyznę tekstową. Na skutek tego, w latach 60. XX wieku ukształtowała się powieść filmowa, czyli gatunek łączący w sobie cechy wielu dziedzin sztuki. Nawiązywała ona jednocześnie do dramatu, nowej powieści oraz scenariusza filmowego. Ostatecznie niezdefiniowana struktura zapewniła jej możliwość dalszej przemiany, dając tym samym początek wielu publikacjom o różnorodnym charakterze. Ich spoiwem okazała się przypisywana im przez autorów nazwa – powieść filmowa.

The development of film art was closely related to literature. The interpenetration of these arts influenced the appearance of numerous publications referring to cinema in film magazines. Among them, an important role was played by publishing scripts and then texts based on films. This made it possible to transfer the seventh play to another plane. As a result, in the 60s of the 20th century a cinema-novel was formed, a genre that combines the features of many art fields. At the same time, it referred to drama, a new novel and a film script. Eventually, the fully undefined structure provided an opportunity for its further transformation, giving rise to many publications that differed from one another. Their binder turned out to be only the name assigned to them by the authors - a cinema-novel.

Le développement de l'art cinématographique était étroitement lié à la littérature. La relation entre ces deux arts a influé sur l’apparition de la presse cinématographique où de nombreuses publications des textes liés aux films ont apparu. Parmi elles, la publication des scénarios et des textes des films a joué un rôle crucial. Ce processus a permis de transmettre le septième art sur un plan textuel ce qui a donné naissance, dans les années 1960, au ciné-roman. Il ressemblait à la fois au drame, au Nouveau Roman et au scénario de film. Sa structure indéfinie a contribué à l’évolution constante de ce genre qui est devenu ainsi un genre ouvert. Le seul élément qui liait ces textes était leur dénomination, à savoir le ciné-roman.
