The role of the professional nurse in the opinion of a child, an adult and an elderly patient

Wstęp: rola zawodowa pielęgniarki definiuje zadania jakie powinna wykonać pielęgniarka, a one są z kolei składową funkcji zawodowych pielęgniarki. Jako najistotniejsze funkcje należy wymienić: funkcję opiekuńczą, terapeutyczną i wychowawczą. Pozostałe funkcje to: profilaktyczna, promowania zdrowia, rehabilitacyjna, kształcenia, zarządzania i naukowo-badawcza. Cel pracy: poznanie opinii dziecka w wieku wczesnoszkolnym, osoby dorosłej oraz osoby w wieku podeszłym na temat roli zawodowej pielęgniarki. Uzyskane wyniki mogą być podstawą podjęcia działań edukacyjnych wśród pielęgniarek opiekującymi się pacjentami w różnym wieku. Materiał i metody: w pracy pisanej metodą studium przypadku przedstawiono opinię 9 letniego chłopca, 21 letniego mężczyzny oraz 75 letniej kobiety, których ostatnim doświadczeniem dotyczącym opieki była hospitalizacja na oddziale chirurgicznym i wykonanie zabiegu usunięcia wyrostka robaczkowego. Wykorzystano w pracy technikę wywiadu oraz autorskie kwestionariusze wywiadu. Wyniki: funkcje pielęgniarki najwyżej ocenione zostały w opinii osoby dorosłej, zaś najniżej w ocenie osoby w wieku podeszłym. Osoby objęte wywiadem najmniej punktów przyznały funkcji promowania zdrowia, zaś najwięcej funkcji kształcenia oraz profilaktycznej. Najbardziej zauważalną różnicą pomiędzy opiniami osób z różnych grup wiekowych okazała się ocena funkcji naukowo-badawczej. Wnioski: wiek pacjenta predysponuje jego oczekiwania względem roli pielęgniarki. Najważniejszą funkcją w opinii dziecka w wieku wczesnoszkolnym, jak i osoby w wieku podeszłym jest funkcja opiekuńcza. Dla osoby dorosłej najważniejsza jest z kolei funkcja terapeutyczna.

Background: the role of the professional nurse defines the tasks that a nurse should perform and these tasks are a part of function component of professional nurses. The most important features are: therapeutic and educational function and also the function of caring. Other functions are: preventive, health promotion, rehabilitation, education, management and scientific research. Purpose: getting to know the opinion of a child in the early school age, an adult and an elderly patient about the role of the professional nurse. The results can be the basis for educational activities among nurses who take care of patients of all ages. Material and methods: the thesis written by a case study presents the opinion of a 9-year-old boy, a 21-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman whose last experience of nursing care is hospitalization on surgical ward and had surgery of removing the appendix. The interview technique and original questionnaire interview were used for the thesis. Results: nurses functions were rated the best in the opinion of an adult, and fared the worst in the evaluation of an elderly patient. The function that respondents assessed the worst is promoting health function, and the function they assessed the best are functions of education and prevention. The most noticeable difference among the opinions of the people from a different age groups was a scientific research function. Conclusions: age predisposes the patient's expectations of the role of nurses. In the opinion of a child in the early school age, and an elderly patient the most important function of a nurse is the function of caring. For an adult the most important is therapeutic function.
