Pieces of loss - Commemorating the life and suicidal death of a loved one in poetry by unknown authors

Owa praca porusza temat doświadczenia bycia osobą pozostawioną – osobą, której ktoś bliski popełnił samobójstwo. Pierwsza część pracy poświęcona jest przeglądowi literatury i rozważaniom teoretycznym. Obejmuje ona takie wątki, jak statystyki dotyczące popełnianych samobójstw, wizerunek i traktowanie osób pozostawionych w społeczeństwie, oraz tabu milczenia, czyli niechęć ich do dzielenia się swoim doświadczeniem. Dalej poruszane tematy to wpływ samobójstwa na osoby pozostawione w sferze ich przeżyć i zdrowia psychicznego, oraz wykorzystanie poezji jako medium przerwania ciszy i jej właściwości terapeutycznych. W drugiej części pracy zawiera się część badawcza. Analizowanym materiałem są dane zastane w postaci dwunastu poematów nieznanych autorów, do których analizy i interpretacji jakościowej wykorzystana została hermeneutyka.

This thesis deals with the experience of being survivor of suicide loss – a person whose loved one commited suicide. The first part of the work is devoted to a literature review and theoretical considerations. It covers topics such as suicide statistics, the image and treatment of survivors of suicide loss in society, and the taboo of silence, i.e. their reluctance to share their experience. The following topics are the impact of suicide on survivors of suicide loss in the matter of their experiences and mental health, and the use of poetry as a medium for breaking silence and its therapeutic properties. The second part of the work contains the research part. The analyzed material is the existing data in the form of twelve poems by unknown authors. Hermeneutics was used as a qualitative methodological approach.
