Tematem niniejszej pracy jest bezpieczeństwo na obszarze Unii Europejskiej od początku powstania Wspólnoty Europejskiej, aż do dnia dzisiejszego. W pracy omówiony został złożony przebieg procesu integracji europejskiej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem potencjalnych problemów i zagrożeń, z jakimi musieli borykać się założyciele Wspólnot. W pracy scharakteryzowane zostały kluczowe aspekty budowania bezpiecznego i spójnego ciała międzynarodowego, którego instytucje oraz organy stoją na straży bezpieczeństwa na całym jej terytorium i stale go rozwijają o nowe zagadnienia. Wskazane zostały również potencjalne i realne zagrożenia, jakie mogą zakłócić bezpieczeństwo w Unii Europejskiej. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono zwłaszcza zagadnieniu terroryzmu, które uznano za jedno z podstawowych zagrożenia współczesnego świata, w tym także bezpieczeństwa w Unii Europejskiej.

The subject of this paper is the issue of security within the European Union since the beginning of the European Community up to the present day. The paper discusses the complexity of the European integration process, with particular emphasis on the potential problems and threats faced by the founders of the Communities. The paper characterizes the key aspects of building a secure and coherent international body whose institutions and bodies are on guard throughout its territory and constantly develops new issues. Potential and real threats that could disrupt security in the European Union are also indicated.
