Dionysus in the form of wine in Greek literature and iconography of Archaic and Classical periods

Celem niniejszej pracy było nakreślenie obrazu i przeprowadzenie analizy obecności Dionizosa pod postacią wina w kulturze i religii starożytnej Grecji, na podstawie tekstów literackich i ikonografii okresów archaicznego i klasycznego. Praca składa się ze wstępnej analizy winorośli właściwej Vitis vinifera L., jej pochodzenia i stosowania w różnych kulturach starożytnych oraz z dwóch rozdziałów, w całości poświęconych Dionizosowi i jego związkowi z winem. W pierwszym rozdziale przedstawione zostały przydomki, epitety i atrybuty roślinne, należące do boga. Drugi rozdział zawiera analizę źródeł pisanych i ikonograficznych, prezentujących obecność boga pod postacią wina w świadomości i życiu codziennym starożytnych Greków.

The purpose of this thesis was to describe and conduct an analysis of the presence of the god Dionysus in the form of wine, in the culture and religion of ancient Greece, based on literary texts and iconography of the Archaic and Classical periods. The thesis consists of a preliminary analysis of the vines of Vitis vinifera L., its origins and uses in various ancient cultures and the two chapters devoted entirely to Dionysus and its relationship with wine. The first chapter presents the names, epithets and plant attributes, belonging to the god. The second chapter contains an analysis of written and iconographic sources, showing the presence of god in the form of wine in the consciousness and daily life of the ancient Greeks.
