The causes, course, and consequences of the "Second Korean War" 1967-1969

Tematem pracy licencjackiej są przyczyny, przebieg oraz skutki „drugiej wojny koreańskiej”, mającej miejsce w latach 1967-1969. Zamiarem autora jest przybliżenie najważniejszych wydarzeń tego konfliktu oraz wskazanie możliwych przyczyn podjęcia przez Koreańską Republikę Ludowo-Demokratyczną działań wywrotowych wymierzonych w Republikę Korei oraz ich wpływu na późniejszą sytuację na Półwyspie Koreańskim. Rozdział pierwszy koncentruje się na tle historycznym. Opisuje on dzieje obu Korei od 1945 do 1966 roku. W rozdziale drugim przedstawione są prawdopodobne przyczyny wybuchu konfliktu. Rozdział trzeci z kolei przybliża najważniejsze wydarzenia „drugiej wojny koreańskiej” (atak na Niebieski Dom, porwanie USS Pueblo oraz zestrzelenie EC-121). Wyjaśnia on także przyczyny niepowodzenia północnokoreańskiej strategii i omawia wpływ „drugiej wojny koreańskiej” na późniejszą historię Republiki Korei oraz Koreańskiej Republiki Ludowo-Demokratycznej.

The bachelor’s thesis focuses on the causes, course and consequences of the so called „Second Korean War”, which lasted since 1967 to 1969. The author aims to describe the most important events of this conflict and to indicate the possible reasons which might have led the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to conduct a series of destabilizing actions against the Republic of Korea. The first chapter is dedicated to the historical background, it outlines the history of both Koreas throughout the period between 1945 and 1966. The probable causes of the conflict are illustrated in the second chapter. The third chapter describes the most important events of the „Second Korean War” (the Blue House Raid, the Pueblo Incident and the 1969 EC-121 Shootdown). Furthermore it explains the reasons behind the failure of the North Korean strategy and illustrates the influence of the events of the „Second Korean War” on the history of the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
